October is almost here and that means the school holidays are here!! There is plenty to see and do in Port Lincoln during this holiday break. October Long Weekend is a great time to head outdoors and go camping in one of the fantastic National Parks located on Eyre Peninsula and discover the beautiful coast. Take the family out fishing or just sit on the beach and enjoy the sunshine while the kids have fun in the surf.

Light the Night 2018

Let’s light up Australia for blood cancer at the Port Lincoln foreshore. Join in and reserve your lantern. An evening for the whole family! Entertainment and food available. Event opens at 5pm with the collection of lanterns, entertainment from 6pm and lantern ceremony and walk from 7.30pm. The event is an important platform for the community to raise vital funds for breakthrough research in the hope of achieving a future free of blood cancer.
Families, friends and community will come together at twilight for a gentle walk carrying one of three coloured lanterns; gold to remember a loved one, white for their own blood cancer journey, or blue to show support. Location of the event is the Foreshore Lawns Tasman Terrace Port Lincoln
Nature Play Festival 2018
Lincoln National Park Rangers are inviting you to family-friendly Beach Detective activities at September Beach as part of the 2018 Nature Play Festival. You can join the rangers and volunteers from the Friends of Southern Eyre Peninsula Parks on Saturday 29 or Sunday 30 September, 10 AM to 12pm The Beach Detectives activity is suitable for supervised children aged four and upwards. Activities include beach combing and learning about the local weird and wonderful plants and animals. Rangers will be on hand to explain how you can help look after these creatures in the wild. Bookings are essential!
MIKKIRA CAMP
One of this year’s Tunarama Ambassador Quest entrants Miss Drakes Port Lincoln, Darian Abraham, has planned a camping fundraiser at Mikkira Station. People are encouraged to bring their tents or swags and camp under the stars and wake up to a catered breakfast in the morning. Spend the afternoon playing games and exploring Mikkira Station and a night of music and fun around the campfire. Del Giorno’s and Catering on Eyre will provide meals and local group Rafikee will perform live music

The Port Lincoln Hotel presents, “Farmers Fundraiser Quiz” raising funds for drought affected farmers on the Eyre Peninsula. Hosted by Quiz Meister Liam, this is an Australian themed quiz night and silent auction, along with loads of laughs! Live entertainment by Lukes of Hazzard, drink specials and platters available for purchase. Get your mates together for a fun night out and support a great cause! All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to drought affected Farmers on the Eyre Peninsula
Mental Health Week Gala Ball 2018
Life is a Circus!
Saturday 13th October 6.30 pm – 1:00am Sunday 14th October
Mentally Fit EP began when a passionate group of people organised a Gala Ball during the 2014 Mental Health Week in Port Lincoln and named it ‘Life is a Circus! This year will be the third ‘Life is a Circus’ Gala Ball at the Tumby Bay Soldiers Memorial Hall on Saturday 13th October.
Entertainment will be by the talented local band, The Marksmen. There will be plenty of Auctions and a raffle and the bar will be open! Proceeds will go towards running community events and courses across the Eyre Peninsula with a focus on mental wellness, prevention and intervention.
Tickets are $75 for 3 course meal created by Jeremy Hartwich and dessert by Kristy McFarlane of Sugar Daisy Cakes, seated at a table of 10. Please note *to be seated together, you must ensure you book tickets together!
Cancer Council SA Relay For Life

Relay For Life is a fun and moving overnight experience that raises vital funds for the Cancer Council’s research, prevention, information and support services. Relay is a chance for the community to recognise and celebrate local cancer survivors, patients and their carers, to honour and remember loved ones lost to cancer and to raise money to help save more lives.
