What’s on this July in Port Lincoln
Our Top ideas for the July School Holidays
In July the cold wintry days set in and everyone will be trying to stay warm and active during the school holidays. Looking for ideas to keep the kids entertained over the break and wondering how you will survive? Here are some useful ideas to keep everyone happy and avoid the “I’m bored” syndrome these holidays.
It’s a great time to take the family to the Port Lincoln Pool and have fun day swimming all day. Port Lincoln Pool is the largest aquatic centre on the Eyre Peninsula. It has a heated 25m pool along with a sauna and spa. There is a waterslide and inflatable challenge fun run that operate weekends and every day of the school holidays from 1pm-4pm.
Rug up to beat the winter chill and head to Glen forest Tourist Park open every day in the holidays. You can enjoy lunch from the Kiosk or bring your own picnic along. Take a wander around the park interacting with the friendly wildlife. Animals that you will see include koalas, dingoes, kangaroos, wombats, sheep, goats, emus, ostriches, peacocks, camels, horses, cows and water buffaloes. Be sure to see Babe the pig, and the walk-in bird aviary is a definite highlight.
Why not start up a vegetable patch with the kids during the holidays. Stop in at Kallinyalla Garden Centre to pick up some vegetable and herb seedlings. Kids will love digging up the soil and planting next summer’s vegies. Ideal plants to put in are broad beans, snow peas, Asian greens, beetroot, broccoli, brussel sprout, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celeriac, celery, fennel, garlic, onions, parsnips, peas, potato and pumpkin. While you are there be sure to grab some of their latest product Whoflungdung. It is the latest certified organic mulch product from Neutrog.
