October school holidays are almost here and these are our top 5 ideas to help you keep the kids active and entertained for the next couple of weeks in Port Lincoln.
Discover Our National Parks
The Lincoln National Park Rangers are running family-friendly Beach Detective activities at September Beach as part of the 2018 Nature Play Festival. The Beach Detective activity is suitable for supervised children aged four and upwards, and will involve beach combing and learning about the weird and wonderful plants and animals that inhabit our coastlines. Join the rangers and volunteers from the Friends of Southern Eyre Peninsula Parks on Saturday 29th or Sunday 30th September, 10 AM to 12 PM. Bookings are essential.
Glenforest Animal Park
Glen-Forest Tourist Park is set in very picturesque surroundings just 15 minutes drive from Port Lincoln, South Australia. Glen-Forest Tourist Park is a 400 acres farm, with 120 acres dedicated to the animal park. There are baby animals for the children to feed and cuddle. Fed by natural springs and creeks all year round, the dams are home to prolific water birds.
Also at Glen-Forest is the ‘Animal Run’ 18 hole Putt Putt Mini Golf Course and the new exciting off road Segway Rides. Glen-Forest Tourist Park offer the usage of a free BBQ undercover eating area with a kiosk. You can sit and eat your lunch while the children enjoy the animals in the nursery area.
Be sure to visit the new kiosk and cellar door: Open 7 days from 10am-5pm.
Port Lincoln Library School Holidays
“Welcome to the Astrodome” Sky Watch Astronomy Planetarium
Come on an Intergalactic Mission and view the cosmos in the astrodome at the Port Lincoln Library. Wednesday the 10th to Friday the 12th. The spectacular 360 degree images, the digital theatre and planetarium will give you an astronomical experience!
There are 5 x 45 minute sessions per day 10am – 11am -12pm – 2.20pm – 3.30pm
Tickets are $5 per person. Be sure sure to register at the Library

Port Lincoln Gymnastic Club are running a School Holiday Program again these holidays! Kindergym 0-4 years $8 per session 9.30 am only Tues 2nd & 9th, Thurs 4th & 11th, Sat 6th & 13th Vacation Fun 5+years $10 per session 11.30am – 1.30pm Wed 3rd & 10th, Thurs 4th & 11th Gymability 5+ years $8 per session 10am – 11am Wed 3rd & 10th. 10.30 – 11.30 Sat 6th & 11th
Port Lincoln Pool YMCA
Come along and join in the fun BIG things are happening at Port Lincoln Leisure Centre with a school holiday program to keep the young ones entertained. A mixture of activities such as big board games, pool games and bubble soccer with Xtreme Kites and Paddle, ensures there’s something for everyone.
